What is the difference between raster and vector images?

Raster images are composed of pixels or dots. Such images can only be enlarged to a certain extent without losing quality due to their fixed pixel count. When zooming into a raster image, pixels become visible or the image may become blurry, indicating it is likely raster. The file format also reveals this, such as JPEG, JPG; PNG; BMP; TIFF, or TIF; GIF, etc., are raster file formats.

Vector images consist of mathematical formulas defining geometric shapes and curves. The image is stored as these formulas, allowing it to be scaled infinitely without quality loss, ensuring sharp edges of shapes remain intact. Common vector formats include PDF, AI, EPS, CDR, SVG.

In print, graphic elements must display well on surfaces of any size. Images made with raster graphics often fail to meet this requirement as pixels beyond a certain size break into pieces, and their file sizes become excessively large. Some manufacturing processes typically do not accept pixel-based materials as their machines operate most accurately with vector graphics.

Vector graphics are not suitable for creating lifelike photographs because they do not produce highly realistic images. They are primarily used for creating logos, text, abstract artistic representations, and engineering designs.

What is vector tracing?

Vectorization in computer graphics is the process of converting raster graphics elements into vector graphic format.

This operation can be performed manually by redrawing the original lines in computer software or with the support of various specialized software tools. Choosing the manual approach is worthwhile primarily for smaller graphics with fewer contours. The automatic, software-based solution also requires careful attention, as it often does not initially deliver the expected final result. It may happen that the source file is of such low resolution that recreating it requires guessing difficult-to-see details and supplementing patterns.

Transforming a detailed image rich in details into a clear, comprehensible vector graphic is by no means a simple task; achieving an accurate and aesthetic outcome requires skilled human eyes and hands.

What is a vector logo?

It is essential for a successful company or business to have a unique and well-designed logo. In order for the logo to be usable for printing or decorative purposes, it must also be available in vector format.

If there is an old logo that exists only as a raster image with low resolution, pixelated, and unable to be enlarged without losing quality, then redrawing or vectorizing it is the solution. We reproduce the original logo and provide it in print-quality vector formats.

Can hand-drawn sketches and drawings be vectorized?

If there is no existing logo available but a design has already been created on paper, you can send us the scanned or photographed sketch, and we will create its vector format.

Other drawings, hand-drawn sketches, or even short handwritten notes can also be vectorized in this way.

To achieve the best result, please ensure that the scanned or photographed material you send us is of high resolution, and if it's a photo, it should be taken under good lighting conditions.

Vector portrait

What is a vector portrait?

A vector portrait is a digital portrait created based on a photograph using vector graphics software. Due to its vector format, it can be displayed or printed at any size without losing sharpness or detail.

There are various styles of vector portraits. Some artists make them realistic, while others transform them into cartoon-like or even caricatured versions of the original image. In general, the original photograph is simplified to create a clean, abstract artistic image while retaining the distinctive features of the original subject.

Where are vector portraits used?

Vector portraits can be used anywhere a recognizable but unique and attention-grabbing image is needed. Their most common application is as profile pictures on social media, online platforms, and websites. They are a great solution for those who prefer not to share their original photos publicly while still creating a distinct impression.

They are also suitable for corporate logos, brand building, illustrations in promotional materials, books, magazines, posters, or web design.

They look great when printed on items such as t-shirts, mugs, pillowcases, decorative objects, or even as unique decorations. They can be used as special, personalized gifts for occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, or for personal and creative projects. Besides individual portraits, they are popular for couple or family portraits, as well as for unique representations of pets, landscapes, or buildings in vector style.

Our vector portraits are available in the following styles:

- Oil painting style, abstract vector portrait

- Four-color gradient vector portrait

- Silhouette style vector portrait

- (Cartoon-style portrait: This refers to a rasterized image, not vector-based.)

Raster portrait

What is a raster portrait?

A raster portrait is a digital portrait created based on a photograph using pixel-based software. In general, it involves transforming the original photograph into an abstract, artistic image while retaining the characteristic features of the original subject. In contrast to vector portraits, raster portraits are characterized by finer shades, more colors, and greater detail richness. They achieve a more realistic yet artistic appearance.

Where can raster portraits be used?

Similar to vector portraits, raster portraits can be used anywhere recognition of a unique and attention-grabbing image is needed. They are most commonly used as profile pictures on social media, online platforms, and websites. They are a good solution for those who prefer not to share their original photographs publicly but still want to create a unique impression.

Due to the technology involved, raster portraits are primarily suitable for digital appearances and may not be infinitely scalable without pixelation, unlike vector images.

They are also suitable for printing at smaller sizes, making them ideal for items such as t-shirts, mugs, pillowcases, decorative objects, and unique decorations.

They can be used as special, unique gifts, for example, for birthdays, anniversaries, or for personal or creative projects. Apart from individual portraits, they are popular for couple or family portraits, as well as artistic raster images of pets, landscapes, or buildings.
